Four days TAT reduction achieved for Airbus spoiler repair at LTS

With 5 months efforts by the Lean CIP workshops participants and composite team of production. The 1st CIP workshop of LTS for A330/A340 spoiler repair process optimization, which was initiated on Aug 18th 2009, has demonstrated us a very positive result. The repair process has been optimized with a sustainable success of the TAT reduction from 16.3 days to 11.9 days per set by implementing the methods and change levers which were disclosed in the workshop with two months stabilization period.

This first CIP workshop was held from Aug 18th to 21st, 2009 with assistance of Dr. Mathias Kurzewitz and Ms. Britta Klammer from HAM WD/L with one day preparation on Aug 17th. The workshop was successfully implemented by analyzing the actual condition and problems of the spoiler repair process, collecting the improvement measures, evaluating and subsequent selection of measures for execution. The measure plan and open topic identified within the workshop have been well followed and implemented in the following months by the related department.

Review has been done on Jan 8th 2010 in order to verify the right implementation of measure plan of both workshops. We are glad to see the successful implementation of all action tasks and the stabilization of the improvement. One of the highlight of the improvement would be that the TAT in average per spoiler set has reached about 4 days reduction comparing the performance after the workshop with the performance before the workshop in 2009.
