Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen to be first
Airbus MRO centre of Airbus proprietary parts in China and
Asia-Pacific
A highly beneficial partnership
Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen is now a member of the Airbus Spares repair station network, offering structure and composite repairs for Airbus proprietary parts in Asia.
Benefits for Asian Airbus operators
For Asian Airbus operators this provides significant benefits. Up to now units had to be sent to Europe for repair. The repair station in Shenzhen, with gateways via three international airports in its vicinity, saves time and avoids high transportation cost. A further reduction of turn-around-time can be achieved owing to immediate availability of all related technical data and close cooperation between Airbus and Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen. Furthermore customers who are in need of a spare part can access Airbus’ large pool in Beijing to immediately get their aircraft back in the sky.
Wolfgang Breckau, Lufthsansa Technik Shenzhen President and CEO said, “We aim to provide market-leading services to our customers. With the increasing number of Airbus aircraft in service in Asia-Pacific region, this GTA lays the foundation for us to establish market leadership for Airbus composite proprietary parts services in this region.”
“Efficiency and convenience are Airbus’ promise to our customers,” said Pierre Steffen, Airbus China Vice President, Customer Services. “Our Chinese customers will not need to export the components to one of our European repair stations, greatly reducing freight cost and cycle time. This complies to our strategy of providing airlines with top class innovative support and services locally together with our suppliers and is further proof of our commitment to China.”
Acknowledgement of quality standards
The agreement was also understood as an acknowledgement of Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen’s high quality standards as they fully meet Airbus’ requirements to its suppliers such as compliance with EN9110 standards and environmental, health and safety standards which had to be proven during an audit lasting several days.
