New capability Airbus radomes
Up to 70% cost savings
Extension to long in-house experience
Operators of Airbus aircraft can now also save up to 70% on radomes by repairing damages at Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen instead of investing in expensive OEM replacements. Espcecially the unforeseeable damages caused by bird strikes, lightning or hail make the avoidance of unscheduled repair cost so important. After long in-house experience on Boeing radome hot-bonding and autoclave repairs the capability was now extended to Airbus types. As the major repair techniques are similar the operating experience of our mechanics can be utilized.
Additionally special tools in accordance with Airbus requirements were purchased. Other than the glass-fibre Boeing radomes, most Airbus radomes consist of Kevlar which is harder. A special training was held in Hamburg, Germany, to ensure highest understanding of the material's properties. This sound knowledge guarantees the preservation of structural integrity and transmissivity specifications after repair.
