Radomes are vulnerable to damage from penetration and entrapment of moisture, ramp rash incidents, bird strikes and lightning. That means that operators face a big problem, because OEM replacements are extremely expensive. Moreover, today's radomes are actually operational components and any deviation from OEM structural or transmissive specifications is simply unacceptable.

Radomes are components with high functional requirements and impose a high challenge to the quality of the repair process and may even necessitate a transmissivity test to ensure the structural integrity. Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen provides customers with the complete inspection, repair, overhaul and modification of aircraft radomes. Most advanced hot-bonding techniques including autoclave repairs are applied during this process. Transmissivity tests of the radomes are performed based on the stipulations of the applicable OEM manuals and in accordance with specific customer requirements.
